How to Write Protect Pen Drive - Step by Step Guide

Sometimes we have many sensitive data in pen drive. We want perfect solution for protecting this data in our pen drive. With this trick, you can protect your pen drive data, and easily save your sensitive and top secret data from your friends and family.

You can write protect your pen drive easily, just follow each and every step very carefully and you can also check out my video on "How to Write protect Pen Drive".

Step 1:

Open “Command Prompt”. To open command prompt press keyboard shortcut “Windows + R” and type “cmd” and press enter.

OR

You can simply right click on the start menu icon and select “Command Prompt” or “Command Prompt (Admin)”

Step 2:

In command prompt type “diskpart” and press enter.

Step 3:

Now type “list disk” and press enter.

Here we can view different disks connected to your computer.

Note down the disk number of your pen drive

Step 4:

Now type “select disk (disk number) and press enter.

Example: select disk 1

Here “1” is the disk number of pen drive

Step 5:

Now type “attribute disk set read only” and press enter.

Now you will see a message in your command prompt that, "command completed successfully".

Means you have successfully made your pen drive as write protected.

Now you cannot copy files into your pen drive, cannot delete files from your pen drive even you cannot format your pen drive. If you try to copy files into pen drive, delete files from pen drive or format your pen drive then it will give you “disk is write protected error”.
